Braai wood
Sekelbos (Sickle Bush)
Probably one of the best braai woods, as it’s very dense, so it burns long and slow and gives off a lot of heat. It also provides one of the best aromas while burning with large flames in vibrant colours and gives off very little smoke. One of the driest around with the lowest moist content.

This is by far the most popular wood type for South African braais.

Kameeldoring (Camel Thorn)
This is one of the hardest and driest wood around. Extremely dense, also known as Iron wood. This wood burns long and slowly with less flames than other wood. Good for braais, potjies, indoor fireplaces, outdoor fireplaces / fire pits, etc.
